Academic Calendar (Intakes)

The main seasons for intake in the Germany are September / October and January / February. For courses starting in January or February, you must apply directly to a university.

Germany Student Visa

Whether you are an Indian student or International student if you’re planning to do your further studies in Germany You need to have a student visa. For this, you will need to contact the German local embassy or consulate in your home country to do this. Three types of visas are intended for persons intending to carry out education in Germany

1 Language Course Visa (Visa for Language Learning): For educational activities lasting 3 months to 1 year, in order to take part in short German language courses.

2 Student Applicant Visa (Visum Zur Studienbewerbung): If you want to study in Germany, but still try to find the right program or you don’t have a letter of confirmation from your university.

3 Student Visa (Visum Zu Studienzwecken): If you have already been accepted to a German Education Provider.

Students should have the following documents before applying for the student visa:

1 Completed student visa application form

2 Proof of sufficient funds

3 Certificate of German language proficiency or proof that you intend on attending a language course in Germany

4 For a student applicant visa: university entrance qualification recognised in Germany

5 For a student visa: notification of admission from your German university (or a statement from the university confirming that your prospects of gaining admission are good).

8 English Language Proficiency Exam Score

RESIDENCE PERMIT – You will have to apply for a residence permit if you are a Not a citizen of an EU member state, and b Intend to study more than 90 days.

You will have to apply for a residence permit at the Alien Registration Office in your university city within your first three months in Germany.

Make sure to take the following documents with you when you apply for Residence Permit:

1 Confirmation of registration from the Residents’ Registration Office

2 Confirmation of private or public health insurance coverage

3 Student ID from your German Education provider (certificate of enrolment)

4 Proof of Funds (if you didn’t present it earlier when you applied for a visa)

5 Current Visa and Valid Passport

6 Certificate of health(if applicable)

7 Your tenancy agreement (if applicable)

8 Biometric passport photos (if applicable)

9 Residence permit fee

Future Opportunities and Immigration

1 Part Time Work: As an Indian student you are allowed to work 120 full days or 240 half days per year and you are not allowed to undertake self-employment.

2 Post Study Work: Although EU nationals do not need a specific permit, students with an Indian Passport would need to apply for a residence permit from a German university after completing their education. Immigration laws allow students to apply and obtain an 18-month residence permit to seek a job in accordance with their qualification means is that you can apply for and obtain a residence permit for 18 months after completing your master’s or bachelor’s or doctoral degree. Please remember that the permit is not combined with a student visa for Germany, unlike some countries. After completing your studies, you should apply for this document with the registration office of foreign nationals in the vicinity.
 

3 Permanent Residence: Germany also grant Permanent Residence Options to the Indian Students but the process is bit cumbersome. The fastest way to permanent residency is to get Blue card (It provides an evidence for the legal stay of a citizen from a non-EU-country in an EU- member state for the purpose of working).  If you are eligible for Blue card then you can apply for permanent residence after only 21 months with German language skill Certificate B1.
